We’re well into 2017 now and we’ve been remiss thus far with regard to men’s grooming trends. To remedy the situation, this week we are covering all the things you need to know for the best year your face has ever had! If you’ve yet to make a resolution for the New Year, pick one (or all) of the ones from the list. We promise, your mug will thank you.
Wash your face. Yes, wash your face. We are well aware of just how few men wash their face on a regular basis – and by that we mean every day. Your face falls victim to any number of pore-clogging chemicals, dirt, grime, gross… on a daily basis, and if you want to avoid acne, dryness, irritation, etc., you really need to start with a good cleaning. Stay away from chemicals and look for a cleanser containing Calendula flower extract which is great for skin irritations, yucca extract to cleanse and soothe the skin, and oak bark extract, an astringent which also helps regenerate damaged skin tissue.
Skip the sunburn. Not protecting your skin from the sun – both men and women are guilty of the facial faux pas. Even in the middle of winter, the sun’s rays can be killer. The longer you go without some sort of sunscreen, the more damage that is done. If you’ve yet to start adding sunscreen to your grooming routine, now’s the time to do it.
Beautify the beard. 2016 was definably the year of the beard, and that is set to continue through 2017. Whatever the style, the beard is here to stay. Make sure to keep it well maintained – and of course, don’t forget to moisturize to keep it from becoming irritated.
Exfoliate. Whether you shave every day or are letting that beard grow, you want to make sure you’re clearing the dead skin cells and loosening ingrown hairs that can cause irritation. Look for one with all natural ingredients to avoid any chemical irritation, ingredients such as rice bran to smooth and soften the skin and black walnut shell extract which sloughs away dead skin cells and refines the skin’s surface.
Hive-five hydration. Your face is craving moisture – give it what it wants. If your skin is dry, not hydrating it can lead to dryness or flakiness or, on the other end of the spectrum, the overproduction of oil leading to acne. Find a moisturizer that helps to balance those natural oils without clogging the pores. Look for ingredients like witch hazel extract with its anti-inflammatory properties and sandalwood oil for the anti-bacterial properties and the fresh woodsy smell.
The entire Sanctum line of certified organic products takes the best natural ingredients and gives you products that your face will celebrate.
